AUTHORSHIP CRITERIA
Jurnal DAYA-MAS: Media Komunikasi dan Informasi Hasil Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat
1. General Principles of Authorship
Jurnal DAYA-MAS recognizes authorship as a form of academic responsibility and acknowledgment of substantive contributions to community service and community empowerment activities. All individuals listed as authors must have made meaningful intellectual or practical contributions to the reported activity and manuscript, and must be willing to take responsibility for the integrity of the published work. Authorship must reflect actual contributions to the community service program and the preparation of the manuscript. Honorary, guest, gift, and ghost authorship are not permitted.
2. Authorship Eligibility Criteria
An individual may be listed as an author in a manuscript submitted to DAYA-MAS only if they meet all the following criteria:
a. Substantial Contribution: The individual has made a substantial contribution to the conception, planning, design, implementation, or evaluation of the community service or community empowerment activity, or to the analysis and interpretation of its results.
b. Writing and Critical Revision: The individual has participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content, including the rationale, implementation methods, evaluation, interpretation of outcomes, and conclusions.
c. Final Approval: The individual has reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript submitted for publication.
d. Accountability: The individual agrees to be accountable for their own contributions and to help ensure that questions concerning the accuracy, integrity, and ethical conduct of the work are appropriately addressed.
All authors must satisfy all four criteria. Participation in an activity alone does not automatically qualify an individual for authorship.
3. Corresponding Author Responsibilities
The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the authors and the editorial team throughout submission, peer review, revision, and publication. The corresponding author is responsible for:
• Ensuring that all listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria.
• Providing accurate names, affiliations, email addresses, and author contribution statements.
• Confirming that all authors have approved the submitted manuscript and agreed to its submission to DAYA-MAS.
• Communicating editorial decisions and revision requests to all co-authors.
• Disclosing relevant funding, conflicts of interest, ethical considerations, and other required declarations.
• Responding to editorial inquiries concerning the manuscript and its integrity.
4. Author Order and Changes in Authorship
The order of authors must be agreed upon by all authors and should reflect the nature and extent of their contributions to the work.
Any change to the author list or author order after submission must be justified, documented, and approved in writing by all affected authors, including any author being added or removed. Such changes are subject to editorial approval.
5. Acknowledgment of Non-Author Contributions
Individuals who contribute to the activity or manuscript but do not meet all authorship criteria should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section, where appropriate and with their consent.
Examples include individuals who provide administrative support, logistical assistance, funding, access to facilities, language editing, or routine technical assistance without making the intellectual contributions required for authorship.
Community partners, local officials, students, volunteers, and beneficiaries should be credited appropriately according to their actual contributions. Their participation in community service activities does not automatically qualify them as authors.
6. Prohibited Authorship Practices
DAYA-MAS does not permit the following practices:
• Gift or Honorary Authorship: Listing individuals as authors despite their failure to meet the authorship criteria.
• Ghost Authorship: Omitting individuals who have made qualifying contributions and should be recognized as authors.
• Guest Authorship: Adding an individual's name to increase the manuscript's credibility or likelihood of acceptance without qualifying contributions.
• Unapproved Authorship Changes: Adding, removing, or reordering authors without appropriate justification and consent.
Suspected authorship disputes or violations will be reviewed by the editorial team in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies.
7. Author Contribution Statement
DAYA-MAS encourages authors to provide a statement describing each author's contribution to the community service activity and manuscript.
Contributions may include conceptualization, project administration, methodology, community engagement, training and mentoring, implementation, data collection, evaluation, analysis, writing, critical revision, and final manuscript approval.
The contribution statement must accurately represent the work performed by each author.
8. Use of Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence (AI) tools cannot be listed as authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of their manuscripts.
The use of generative AI in preparing or substantially revising a manuscript must be disclosed in accordance with the journal's AI policy. Authors must verify AI-generated content, references, data interpretations, and factual claims before submission.
AI tools must not be used to fabricate activity results, participant feedback, supporting evidence, or other information concerning community service activities.
9. Ethical Responsibility and Declaration
By submitting a manuscript to DAYA-MAS, the corresponding author confirms that the authorship information is accurate, all listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria, all authors have approved the manuscript, and the submission complies with the journal's publication ethics policies.
The editorial team reserves the right to request clarification or supporting documentation when necessary to verify authorship and research or community engagement integrity.
