Corrections and Retractions Policy
DAYA-MAS: Media Komunikasi dan Informasi Hasil Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat
1. Policy Statement
DAYA-MAS is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. The journal recognizes that errors or concerns may arise after an article has been published and is committed to addressing them fairly, promptly, and transparently.
Corrections and retractions are issued when necessary to ensure that readers have access to reliable information concerning community service and community empowerment activities.
2. Corrections
A correction may be issued when an error is identified in a published article and the error can be rectified without invalidating the overall findings or conclusions.
Corrections may be considered for errors involving:
• Author names, affiliations, or other publication metadata.
• Typographical or editorial mistakes that affect the interpretation of the article.
• Tables, figures, numerical values, or descriptions that require correction.
• Acknowledgments, funding information, or declarations that were inaccurate or incomplete.
• Other errors that affect the accuracy or clarity of the published record.
The editorial team will assess the nature and significance of the error before deciding whether a formal correction is necessary.
A correction notice will clearly identify the original article, describe the error, state the correction, and explain any relevant impact on the article's interpretation or conclusions.
The correction notice will be linked to the original article whenever technically possible.
3. Retractions
A retraction may be issued when the reliability or integrity of a published article is seriously compromised.
Grounds for retraction may include, but are not limited to:
• Fabrication or falsification of data, activity records, participant information, or reported outcomes.
• Substantial plagiarism or unauthorized use of another person's work.
• Serious ethical violations in the conduct or reporting of the activity.
• Unreliable findings resulting from serious errors or misconduct.
• Duplicate publication that substantially compromises the integrity of the scholarly record.
• Other circumstances in which the article's continued publication without a retraction notice would be misleading.
Retraction decisions will be based on an assessment of the available evidence, the seriousness of the concern, and the implications for the reliability of the published work.
A retraction does not necessarily imply that every author was involved in misconduct. The journal will distinguish, where possible, between established findings, unresolved concerns, and individual responsibility.
4. Reporting Errors and Concerns
Authors, readers, reviewers, institutions, community partners, and other interested parties may notify the DAYA-MAS editorial team of suspected errors or concerns involving a published article.
Reports should include the article title or DOI, a description of the issue, and any available supporting evidence.
The editorial team will assess the report and may request additional information from the authors or other relevant parties.
5. Editorial Assessment and Decision-Making
When a potential error or integrity concern is identified, the editor-in-chief or an authorized editorial representative will assess the available evidence.
Depending on the circumstances, the journal may:
a. Request clarification or supporting documentation from the authors.
b. Consult independent experts or reviewers.
c. Contact the relevant author's institution or another appropriate body when necessary.
d. Publish a correction if the error can be adequately remedied.
e. Issue an expression of concern while a significant unresolved matter is investigated.
f. Retract the article when the evidence and circumstances justify retraction.
The journal will provide the authors with a reasonable opportunity to respond, where appropriate, and will make editorial decisions independently and fairly.
6. Publication of Correction and Retraction Notices
Correction and retraction notices will be published transparently and linked to the original article whenever possible.
A correction notice will identify the affected content and explain the necessary amendments.
A retraction notice will identify the article, explain the reason for retraction as clearly as possible, and indicate who is retracting the article, where appropriate.
Retracted articles will generally remain accessible with a prominent retraction notice to preserve the scholarly record. Exceptions may be considered where legal, privacy, safety, or other compelling ethical concerns require additional measures.
7. Responsibilities of Authors
Authors are expected to notify the editorial team promptly if they discover a significant error in their published work.
Authors must cooperate with reasonable editorial requests for clarification, evidence, or corrective action.
Where a correction or retraction is warranted, authors are expected to cooperate with the journal in resolving the issue. Disagreement by an author does not automatically prevent the journal from taking an editorial action supported by the available evidence.
8. Responsibilities of Editors
Editors are responsible for evaluating reported errors and integrity concerns objectively and confidentially.
They must ensure that decisions are proportionate to the evidence and that correction or retraction notices provide sufficient information to readers.
Editors must also consider the rights and interests of authors, readers, community participants, and other parties affected by the publication.
9. Post-Publication Transparency
DAYA-MAS aims to maintain a transparent and reliable publication record. Corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions will be documented and linked to the relevant articles whenever technically possible.
The journal may update this policy as necessary to reflect developments in publication ethics and scholarly publishing practices.
10. Policy Review
This policy may be reviewed periodically by the editorial team to ensure its continued relevance and consistency with accepted publication ethics principles.
